The Blush !

Blush is definately an important element of the make up. It accentuates the cheeks and gives a healthy pinkish glow to the cheeks.
For people who have a dull skin, It is of great help as it enhances the cheeks and jawline.
It also helps it making your jaw line look thinner and who doesnt want those "chubby cheeks" which even the nursery rhyme says you must have.
Also those with pale skin must have a little blush to your face or else you would have incomplete look with good eyes n lips but no good skin.
Today I will be telling you all about the blush that you need to know and then tomorrow I will be adding the blush that are for sale in India for under Rs 500/-

To start with, First we should know where exactly should we apply the blush. This depends on your face shape. You have to first determine your face shape and then accordinly apply the blush on the respective area as this would make your face look the best. Also blush isnt just meant for the cheeks... other areas can be accentuated too as it gives a homegenity to the face.

Next is the skin color that determines the right shade for your cheeks. The right color makes your skin looks brighter and attractive,Get to know the best color for your skin with the image below.

Next we must know the correct way to apply blush.
One should NOT apply blush in a round pattern. It would end up you looking like a clown (no offense) It also makes you look too chubby and colorful. The right way is by stroking up and down from the upper side beside the eye to the outline of your cheeks. See image below.

One must also use a proper Blush brush to add the blush. The thicker the better. Also make sure its soft because you certainly dont want a red rash instead of the blush. They are available locally for less than Rs 150/-

Types of Blush:
  1. Normal Blush : Its a pigmented powder. Its the most available and best form of blush. You just have to dab your blush and apply on the face. With some brands it can be of lesser pigmentation. It is great for normal to oily skin. Dry skin may go for another option. Also for daily wear and summers its great to use.
  2. Baked Blush : Baked blush is a type of blush that is formed by baking colored liquid. It is baked on terra cotta tiles for upto 24 hours to achieve the desired solid consistancy. The substance when cooled is packed and then can be applied to the face in dry form or slightly wet form to achieve a shimmery look. Applying the blush in wet form is more long lasting than normal powder blush. It is usually more vibrant and long lasting than a normal powder blush.
  3. Cream Blush : This is a form of blush which has a creamy texture. It is usually applied with the fingers in upward direction. Cream blush comprises of mosturizing cream and oils. It is apt for dry skin types and for non humid climates. It should be applied over base but before the powder. It can also be mixed in mosturizer or foundation for a subtle look.
  4. Mousse blush : It is a air whipped mouse blush that gives a satin soft feel on the skin and glides very smoothly. It can be used as a foundation for pale skins as it is less pigmented and gives a natural look. Fingers are to be used and you can also use a sponge to blend in the skin. It does not clog the pores and even oily skin use it as it dries off in sometime.
  5. Blush Tint: Blush tints are colored liquid formed or like a makeup stick which can be used as a lipstick too. You have to dab some and spread across the cheeks. It is travel friendly as does the job of both a lipstick and a blush. It is quite long lasting and meant for all skin types. They are the most old form of blushes that were created.
When you chose a blush look out for shimmer and non shimmer options. Shimmer ones are great for evenings and parties and plain ones are good for daily wear and day make up.
Pinks and corals are the best ones to buy. They can be given more layers to get a magenta and reddish look.

COMING TOMMORROW: The blush part II consisting of blush hacks..
SO STAY TUNED!!
